Urbanworld, Etc.

September 26, 2010

K, so I popped that festival cherry.

“Close.” at Urbanworld Film Festival – NYC ‘2010.

by Mykwain Gainey

Felt good, too.

It’s the first of many, and boy are these joints expensive.  But it was great and I saw a lot of good stuff and met some good people.   Was pleased to find that there were a lot of good shorts in the festival this year.  It’s work, though.  You might go into a festival thinking that you can kind of chill, but no.  You’ve got to move, man.  It was a learning experience to say the least.

My personal favorites out of the shorts which screened at the festival–

Ya’Ke Smith – “Katrina’s Son” –

Marcus Thomas – “Casting Notice” –

Kenn Michael – “Hear Me” –

Just ill from an all around production standpoint.  Homeboy did like every part of this movie.  Just check out the credits.

Definitely missed these, which I really wanted to see:

Nabil Elderkin’s “Bouncing Cats” –

“Gordita” –

Got a lot going on.  It’s been a busy week.  Stay tuned.
